Hope everyone is doing well and excited about the final push towards graduation. As the weather starts to warm up it's important to remind our seniors and others that "Spring Fever” is always nice, but getting to class is still their responsibility. I want to thank all those who took the extra time to fill out grade checks last week. I want everyone to know that although many of our students weren't performing at the level we would all accept, we did not lose any of our athletes to grades last 6-week grading period.
We have many exciting things going on in our Athletic department during this time of year. Our swimmers just finished competing in the State Tournament and one of our relay teams set a personal record. We also had GREAT success at the State Wrestling Tournament. Many of our wrestlers placed individually, (Jude Brunner 4th, Levi Lucero 5th, Josh Gallegos 5th, David Lopez 6th, and Andres Lucero won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the 285lbs weight class). Our Boys and Girls basketball teams both qualified for the State Tournament. Our girls will be playing at home on Friday night verse Hobbs at 7:00pm and our boys, who won the DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP will play Saturday night at 7:00pm at Valley. We look forward to seeing all of you out at the games. As a coach I can tell you the athletes really get excited when they see their teachers out supporting them. So, if you get a chance get to a game or if you happen to see any of these students around campus take a second to congratulate them on all their successes.
In closing, let me just thank all of you for all your hard work with our student athletes. They will all be better adults for having been a VIKING under your guidance.
